The Story of Midnight Sun Elegance

Midnight Sun Elegance was created by myself in the summer of 2020. The creation of the name was to remind myself where I come from. I am Dehcho Dene and grew up in the Denendeh (Northwest Territories, Canada). This part of Canada is often referred to as the land of the midnight sun due to the 24 hour day light in the summer. Traditional Dene beadwork has always been elegant and astonishing to me therefore, I decided my company would be named Midnight Sun Elegance.

My love for beading grew out of helping my Ama (great grandmother) thread her needles and from her allowing me to bead with her. I have beaded since I can remember for the enjoyment and happiness it brings me and others whom I gift these pieces to. For Christmas, I always made handmade gifts for my friends and family. Recently, I decided to take a new approach and start to market my creations with a broader audience in mind.

I offer a variety of different types of authentic Indigenous jewelry and use a variety of traditional Indigenous materials. My hope is to continually feature a variety of high-quality and affordable products that are traditionally Indigenous with a modern flare.
